The Plant Mother about the Bird's Nest Fern

Dear plant lovers, today I want to share one of my all-time favorites with you: the Bird's Nest Fern, or as it is officially called, the Asplenium Nidum. This plant is not only beautiful to look at, but also very easy to care for. Whether you are just starting out with plants or already have a whole collection, this green friend will not disappoint you.

To keep a close eye on them, I recommend the following rhythm :

  • Monday : Check if the soil is still moist. Give a little water if the top layer feels dry.
  • Wednesday : Mist the leaves lightly to maintain humidity. This keeps the leaves fresh and healthy.
  • Friday : Check the leaves for dust. Wipe them gently with a damp cloth.

For the seasonal changes, here are some tips :

  • Spring : The Bird's Nest Fern enjoys the growing conditions of spring. Provide a little extra nutrition and water a little more often.
  • Summer : The heat can lower humidity, so mist it more often and make sure it is out of direct sunlight.
  • Fall : Reduce watering slightly, but still keep moist. This is a rest period for the plant.
  • Winter : Move closer to a window for plenty of light, but keep away from cold drafts. Less watering is the key here.

My interior styling advice : The Bird's Nest Fern does great in a central spot in your living room or bedroom. Its full, green leaves add a natural flair to both modern and classic interiors. Place it on a plant stand or low table where it will come into its own, and combine it with other plants of different heights for a dynamic green corner.
