Caring for your Anthuriums and Ferns with the right growing medium

I still remember the first time I took care of an Anthurium. I had a beautiful plant in my hands, but after a while I noticed that the leaves were less shiny and the flowers appeared less frequently. It took me a while to understand that the right soil was the key to success. That is why I am so happy with Culvita Anthurium and Fern Soil. This growing medium provides exactly what these plants need: an airy, moisture-retaining base that keeps their roots happy.

Anthuriums and ferns are special plants that need a specific treatment. They like moist but airy soil. With Culvita Anthurium and Fern Soil you ensure that your plants can develop as they would in nature. The addition of perlite ensures a perfect balance between water and air, allowing the roots to develop well and the plant to bloom in full glory.

To use them properly I recommend the following rhythm:

  • Monday: Check the moisture level of the soil. Water if the top layer feels dry.
  • Wednesday: Check the humidity and lightly mist the leaves of your ferns.
  • Friday: Water again as needed, and rotate the plants a quarter turn to promote even growth.
  • Sunday: Feed your Anthurium and ferns with a light, liquid fertilizer if desired.

For the seasonal changes, here are some tips:

  • Summer: Keep the soil of your Anthurium moist at all times. Ferns also enjoy a moist environment in the summer, so make sure to water regularly.
  • Winter: Put your Anthurium in a cooler spot and water only once a week. For ferns: keep the soil moist, but reduce the amount of water.
  • Autumn: Gradually start giving your Anthurium less water to prepare it for the dormant period.
  • Spring: Repot your plants in fresh Culvita Anthurium and Fern soil for a fresh start to the growing season.

My user advice: Place your Anthurium in a spot with lots of indirect light and make sure the soil doesn't dry out. Ferns benefit from a shady spot with high humidity. Place a water bowl nearby to keep the humidity up.
